Summer Party

What's the collective noun for a group of off-duty media buyers? The recent end of year Summer hootenanny was judged a glowing success by all. Space and Time’s annual thank you to the agency’s suppliers was held at its traditional Reigate venue, and saw the teams from each of the regional offices brought together for the purposes of relaxation and merriment. The prize giving on the night saw Hannah Levick announced as the deserving winner of the 2011 Employee of the Year award and Kiesha Spence awarded the inaugural “It’s My Electric Toothbrush, Honest” award, while Heather Connearn was declared the proud winner of the agency’s much-coveted “I Like it Dirty” prize.

New Staff at S&TM Towers

Having worked on clients ranging from the Wall Street Journal to Ann Summers by way of Which? and Thomas Cook, the new members of Space and Time's paid search team bring a raft of experience to the table. Headed by Steve Harrington, the team has grown massively over recent weeks to meet the growing PPC needs of Space and Time's expanding client base. Among the new additions are a new Manchester PPC contingent, comprising Guy Mains, Helen King and Nikola Paradies, who represent the first permanent North-West based PPC resource the agency has seen. With William Campbell rounding out the regional offering at Space and Time Edinburgh, and Dan Allum providing additional expertise in Reigate, the new paid search team has significantly increased the agency's ability to deliver first-class PPC advice and account provision across the country.
Other recent additions to Space and Time include Heather Duncan, who has been brought on board to employ her considerable experience in helping to alleviate the strain on a busy Digital Media buying team. Iain MacRitchie has been hired by Keith in the Edinburgh office as a trainee Media Executive. Winner of Most Scottish Name of the Year 2007-2010 (he was unseated this year by Fraser 'Mac' McFraser), Iain is a recent graduate in Film & Media Studies and will be a very welcome addition to the Scottish team.  Tom Carter has returned to our Reigate office after taking some time out to gain further digital technical experience (as special black ops in Libya).  Finally our latest new recruit, Grant Charland joins us as our Client Services Manager, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge from a creative agency background.

Congratulations to our Finance Assistant, Gabriella Bastos for passing exams for her second year of the Association of Accounting Technicians Award.

OPTEGRA

Optegra continue with their programme of specialist eye hospital opening, with Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham all launching in the middle of 2010, helping to build their national presence. As well as ongoing regional support for each site, Optegra created a new procedure in May - called Clarivu - an operation that 'fixes' long and short sightedness, as well as preventing the need for cataract operations later in life.

Space & Time are helping develop this brand - aimed at the over 55 and wealthy market, with a combination of national press, magazines, direct mail and online media - to the point where the dedicated website is currently receiving visits in their tens of thousands every month. and more importantly, delivering the required conversions.

CALA PPC

Space and Time Media has been awarded the paid and organic search activity of major housebuilder CALA Homes, worth £300k per year. Already media buyers for the builder's offline needs, the win sees Space and Time combine all CALA's on- and offline media buying activity into one account, also incorporating social media consultancy and an integrated digital media response measurement service.
Commenting on the win, Chairman Peter Jones said "digital media have become an essential part of the media schedule for property developers. It makes good business sense for us to offer our clients a one-stop media buying shop, combining the property insight we're renowned for with the skills of our first-rate specialist digital team."

10 Years and Counting

Space and Time recently celebrated its tenth year of media buying with a small but perfectly formed bash in leafy Reigate. Chairman Peter Jones was asked on the night to comment on the agency's longevity, his hopes and aspirations for the future, his strategies to ensure the second ten years were as solid as the first, the perilous state of the economy and what that might mean for the advertising sector, and what the much-overused word "legacy" really meant to him. He replied "you know... I love you, you’re lovely, you're my best mate you are. Hic."
